A powerful SaaS product line for streamlining the home buying process.

The core vision for Let’s Plan was to create a powerful tool for mortgage loan officers to help streamline their workflow and simplify the complex home-buying process for their clients. During my time with Let's Plan we successfully launched multiple digital products, including a B2B SaaS product solution for mortgage loan officers and a B2B SaaS progressive web application for home buyers. My role involved overseeing the overall product design and user experience while working directly with the client, creative director, and developer to deliver new features and product offerings.

Laying The Foundation

Transforming real-life meetings into real-time digital workflows.

The typical workflow for a mortgage loan officer includes an in-person meeting with a client during which they collect financial information, explain various mortgage loan options, and recommend mortgage plans based on their client's unique needs. For Let's Plan, the goal was to replicate this experience within the context of a digital application with a streamlined workflow and the ability to meet with clients from anywhere more efficiently. The solution for this was creating a multi-step virtual meeting flow that would allow the loan officer to gather vital information and guide their client through a presentation of their loan options. Each step during the virtual meeting also supported a live editing feature allowing the loan officer to input information and adjust numbers on the fly while the customer viewed results in real-time.

Streamlined Onboarding

Ensuring a seamless experience from point of sale through new user onboarding.

The Let's Plan ecosystem included not only the application (aptly named LP Loan Planner) but also a marketing website for promoting the product and the brand. Creating a seamless customer experience from the customer's first interaction through application onboarding was essential for increasing conversions, maintaining brand integrity, and retention. Implementing a shared design system between the marketing website and web application provided consistency throughout the entire customer journey and created a solid foundation for future product features.

Continuous Evolution

Constantly evolving the product experience to meet new needs.

Most digital products are never finished continuing to evolve as new needs arise, and LP Loan Planner was no different. There were many features on the product roadmap from larger features such as support for Teams, to smaller features like adding a Loan Comparisons step into the meeting flow. However, user feedback quickly identified new needs and priorities for features not on the existing roadmap such as Meeting Notes. This was one of the most requested features during the beta testing period and involved users wanting to take notes in-app during a live meeting for reference during subsequent meetings. This type of feedback was essential to Let's Plan's evolution and to create a product that met the real-life needs of mortgage loan officers.

Expanding The Product Line

Introducing a new digital product for the home buyer.

Following the successful launch of the initial Loan Planner product, a unique opportunity arose to develop a new tool specifically for home buyers: the LP Loan Calculator. This new app focused on bringing powerful calculation features from the LP Loan Planner directly to home buyers, allowing them to quickly estimate realistic monthly payments from their mobile device on the fly. Designed as a mobile-first progressive web application, the LP Loan Calculator minimized development time by leveraging the existing work completed for the Loan Planner. Although not a small undertaking, the LP Loan Calculator was designed, developed, integrated into the Let's Plan ecosystem, and launched within two months of the initial concept.
